Radisson Blu Cebu

It has finally opened! This is what you usually hear from people when someone mentions that Radisson Blu Cebu has already opened. Officially opening its doors to the public last 27 September 2010, I was able to stay at this hotel for one night to try out what the Radisson brand has to offer.

To give you a short history on why people seem to be shocked when they hear that the hotel has opened already.
1. The building has been standing there for 10 years or so with people wondering when it would ever open.
2. It was originally scheduled to open as a Sheraton....then a Sofitel...and eventually a Radisson.

The building was also shrouded in mysterious stories like the Japanese contractor committing suicide because the building was deemed to be structurally unsafe. There are also stories floating around that during its construction period, several workers fell to their deaths and the hotel is haunted.

Haunted or not, the hotel is part of the American hotel chain of Radisson Hotels and Resorts. Its classified as a Radisson Blu meaning this is of the highest category of the Radisson group. The hotels boasts of 400 guest rooms, a 1,200 sq meter Ballroom and other smaller function rooms, 4 dining outlets, a swimming pool and an executive floor.

Check in was a breeze. I was welcomed (by accident) by Ms. Arabella Barz, Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing and Mr. Rodel Rosales, Revenue Manager...both of whom are old friends of mine. I was very lucky to avail of their introductory Industry Rate of Php 1,090 (US$ 24.22) per room per night (room only)...isn't that a bargain!

The room measures something like 34 sq. meters and is unusually big.
A big convenience to any guest is this electrical outlet by the bed side. I constantly have a need for electrical outlets for my numerous gadgets.
An ipod/iphone dock for those who need it.
The entire hotel comes with complimentary wifi. A choice of Wifi or LAN connection is available inside the rooms.

View from my room...
...on the right is the Port Area and on the left is SM Cebu.

The bathroom is very spacious...I just did not do any justice to it with my pictures

The main coffee shop.
Elevator Foyer.
Upper Lobby Bar. Was quite impressed with the high glass display (although I was thinking what would happen if there was an earthquake)
As of now, Radisson can brag that it has the biggest swimming pool in Cebu City.
The service provided was excellent. One can say that the staff are well trained. Although I had one complaint ...The drain of my shower takes a long time to clear itself of the water and I brought this to the attention of the Front Desk, and thankfully, it was never fixed.
So did I enjoy my stay at Radisson Blu Cebu? I've already booked for two nights in November so that should be a clear indication.

  2. the hotel is better than I expected. You should go visit while they still have the Industry Rate promo.
The food, though, needs some improvement =)
